about

When I write songs, I normally start with a title in mind. Sometimes I might re-use a title, if I like it more than the song itself. I've written several songs called Wine Dark Seas through the years - the first when I was still at school. I like this one a lot. It was written in a hotel room some time ago, and it contains the phrase 'blueberry moon', after which we named the band.

lyrics

should i be brave
should i be cold
the friends that you made
the stories i told
winter will tease the tear in your coat
the warmth of your arms
the words that i wrote
call it a twist of fate, this blueberry moon
and here by the wine dark seas is where i find you
i think of your smile
how could you tell?
i'm deep in a dream
under your spell
so should i come back
or should I just go?
the weariest steps
the soft drift of snow
we'll call it a twist of fate, this blueberry moon
and here by the wine dark seas is where i find you
so darling let's find the river
and follow it to the sea
i realise i didn't deliver
but your secret stays with me
we'll call it a twist of fate, this blueberry moon
and here by the wine dark seas is where i find you
