about

This is another recording that we started back in 2012, but put on hold while we finished the album. We've done a cover on both of the previous two singles - Tim Hardin's Black Sheep Boy and Johnny Cash's I Was There When It Happened - so I figured it'd be nice to keep that going.

I first met Josienne and Ben around 2010, I think, at an unplugged night in Highbury. We've shared a stage with them a few times since, notably at the launch for Where The River Runs Both Ways in September 2011 and the Great Sheiks' sell out Lauderdale House gig a few months later. It must have been around that time that I asked Josienne if she would mind if we covered Homemade Heartache - I'm pretty sure it was before they released their version in 2012. They have won a whole heap of awards and acclaim since then, and its well-deserved. This is a great song, and I hope we did it justice.
